My current work engages with Elvia Wilk’s Death by Landscape, exploring ecology, dystopia, and human-nature relationships. During my Yellow Brick residency, I’ll focus on Greek mythological figures undergoing metamorphosis, animal to human, human to plant, challenging rigid categories. Inspired by Wilk’s “person-becoming-plant” narrative, I aim to depict bodies in flux, embracing ambiguity. Through oil painting, I question human/nonhuman distinctions, experimenting with techniques to represent fluid, transformative entities, expanding contemporary painting’s portrayal of bodies and landscapes.
