STEP 76 | (working title)

with 11/05/26, 01/04/2027 Steps Upcoming

My current work engages with Elvia Wilk’s Death by Landscape, exploring ecology, dystopia, and human-nature relationships. During my Yellow Brick residency, I’ll focus on Greek mythological figures undergoing metamorphosis, animal to human, human to plant, challenging rigid categories. Inspired by Wilk’s “person-becoming-plant” narrative, I aim to depict bodies in flux, embracing ambiguity. Through oil painting, I question human/nonhuman distinctions, experimenting with techniques to represent fluid, transformative entities, expanding contemporary painting’s portrayal of bodies and landscapes.

I work across painting, drawing, animation, performance and objects, focusing on the human body and its cultural dimensions. My practice reimagines art history through queer, intersectional feminist perspectives, using literature to explore marginalization and speculative futures, while challenging dominant views and constructing new narratives.
