STEP 70 | ‘grown’

For Adam John Cullen’s second residency at Yellow Brick Studio (first in 2022), he will continue to develop his sculptural practice that stems from personal narratives, and the embedded history of the materials he chooses to work with. Cullen will use the rooftop of Yellow Brick as a site to build a semi-permanent garden installation, inviting other artists to contribute towards over the course of his residency and beyond. Developing a collaborative installation over time.

holds a B.A Arts, Fine Arts (RMIT University), Honours, Fine Arts (Monash University) and a Masters in Fine Arts (Victorian College of the Arts). Selected solo exhibitions include: Elton, LON Gallery, Melbourne, 2021; ghost, Sarah Scout Presents, Melbourne, 2019; three dogs, Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts, Taipei, 2018; dissolve, Gertrude Contemporary, Melbourne, 2017; Bapaume St, Alaska Projects, Sydney, 2016; Settle, TCB Art Inc., Melbourne, 2014. He has been included in group exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney, Aperto gallery, Montpellier and Shepparton Art Museum. Adam has also undertaken residencies at Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts, Taipei, 2018; Tentacles, Bangkok, 2018, and Gertrude Contemporary, Melbourne 2017-2019 and he is represented by LON Gallery in Australia.
