This project explores the female voice as a site of embodied knowledge, drawing on ritual, folklore, and oral traditions to examine how women’s expression has historically been framed as dangerous, irrational, or monstrous within patriarchal culture. The work engages with Bulgarian and Balkan cosmologies surrounding women, ritualized gatherings, hysteria, gossip, and the transformative power of the voice. Through the unfolding of multiple performative scenes, the work investigates the “monstrous” feminine by weaving together monologue and choreographic gestures.
