For the residency at Yellow Brick, Juan Duque draws from his current PhD inquiry, in which he explores epistemic diversity and temporality, while reorienting his art practice towards relational interconnection with local understandings of place, site and territory.
In the presentation of his research, Juan proposes to the guests the constitution of temporary places for exploring, exchanging, and creating collective knowledge through diverse art forms, such as temporary sculpture constructions, expanded drawing and body movement. The presentation implements the collaborative co-creation of performative scores as a methodology.
Για το residency στο Yellow Brick, ο Juan Duque επικεντρώνεται στην τρέχουσα διδακτορική του έρευνα, στην οποία διερευνά την επιστημολογική ποικιλομορφία και χρονικότητα, καθώς ανακατευθύνει την καλλιτεχνική του πρακτική προς μια σχεσιακή ενδοσύνδεση με ντόπιες αντιλήψεις περί χώρου, τόπου, σημείου και επικράτειας. Κατά την παρουσίαση της πρακτικής του, ο Juan προτείνει στους παρευρισκόμενους τη δόμηση εφήμερων τόπων για την εξερεύνηση, την ανταλλαγή και τη δημιουργία συλλογικής γνώσης διαμέσου ποικίλων καλλιτεχνικών φορμών, όπως για παράδειγμα εφήμερες γλυπτικές κατασκευές, διευρυμένες ζωγραφικές δράσεις και σωματική κίνηση. Η παρουσίαση προτείνει – ως μεθοδολογία – τη συνεργατική συν-δημιουργία επιτελεστικών score.

(Brussels) is an independent artist/researcher and curator. His artistic practice in site-specific installation and performance via decolonial theories and practices intends to problematise understandings of space occupation and place-making by communising creative methodologies in the making (through the unfolding of diverse media such as affective drawing, body movement, and object construction). Recent projects include U-jazdowski Castle Contemporary Art Center, Warsaw (2018), Geumcheon and Seoul ArtSpace, Seoul (2014) and SAVVY Contemporary Berlin.
